Supreme Court Advocate Dr. Surat Singh

New Delhi

BBC World Service interviewed Harvard and Oxford educated Supreme Court Lawyer, Dr. Surat Singh about his expert opinion on Chief Justice of India’s comment that PM did not mention anything about speedy justice or appointment of Judges in his long Independence address.

Dr. Surat Singh took the view that Chief Justice of India is very keen on delivery of justice and other programs of PM like “Make in India” will not be successful unless there is speedy judicial process on deciding business/investment related issues. There was nothing personal about the comments of the Chief Justice of India. Chief Justice has only expressed his concern in the best interest of the country where there should be a healthy debate on the role of the executive as well as Judiciary so that better service can be provided to the people by both wings of the government.
